Gov. Charlie Crist has bucked all wisdom and tapped George LeMieux to fill Florida’s open Senate seat. The LeMieux pick makes sense on paper - he’s the closest ally Crist has and is willing to act as a placeholder - but the decision in reality is both reckless and misguided.

LeMieux can expect to face many questions about his double-dipping on the FEC Railroad as well as his conflicted gaming negotiations with the Seminole Indian Tribe. Crist owns LeMieux’s conflicts and he will have to answer for them.
