Will.i.am’s attempt to build a niche out of his epic “Yes We Can” video has culminated in “Take Our Planet Back,” a video designed to promote Repower America, which aims to create an America that runs on 100 percent clean electricity within 10 years.

It’s a great cause, but, despite its good intentions, “Take Our Planet Back” will not be bringing home a Grammy any time soon. The video is replete with close-ups of will.i.am tinkering in his kitchen, which are mashed up between disturbing and grisly images, and uninspiring lyrics talked over by even less moving Al Gore one-liners such as “energy,” “coal,” and “citizens.”

This video demands a parody.

At one moment, will.i.am pours orange juice:

A few screens later, a child is born without limbs:

To get a sense of how poorly organized the “Take Our Planet Back” is, try watching it without sound.

Will.i.am asks in one particularly awkward refrain, “If we’re fighting a war on terror, why aren’t we fighting for the environment?”

Maybe it’s because your video makes me want to litter.
