The exciting prospect of Gov. Sarah Palin writing a memoir has been around for some time, yet only recently has it become an actual possibility. According to a report from the LA Times, Palin is teaming up with Robert Barnett, the same publicist who landed deals for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to shop her anticipated “book.”
Originally, back in November when rumors of Palin’s book started to fly, the price tag was an impressive $7 million. Now some reporters are saying the book is being shopped for as much as $11 million.
Soon after the election, when word of this potential masterpiece first surfaced, The New Argument began brainstorming title ideas.
- The GOP Candidate Dems Have Been Waiting Hoping For.
- Governor Me! - by William Kristol.
- Sarah Palin: She Totally Gets Me Off! - by the remaining staff of National Review.
- Me and Jesus Are Going to Make a Pipeline Someday.
- And a late addition, The Wink Seen Around the World.
Another title that you might see above a “touched” picture of Sarah Palin’s face is, Gotcha. Obviously an attack on the “liberal media” while simultaneously acting as a back handed insult to the reader. As in: “Gotcha! You paid $24.95 (price estimated) to read about my life.”
In all honestly, while many pundits and TV liberal elitists from MSNBC question Palin’s ability to read, let alone write a book, I want to know the logistics of this trying tale of a beauty pageant contestant turned political diva from the small town of Wasilla, AK - which Google’s satellite still can’t seem to get a decent image of. Suspicious?
Questions for the prospective author:
- Who are you? (Don’t say Sarah Palin - we know you’re lying)
- How many illustrations will appear in the book?
- Will it be choose your own adventure? (i.e. John McCain asks you to be his running mate. Do you say yes? - If yes turn to page 4. If no, who is Sarah Palin again?)
- Will your writtin’ be in Alaskan vernacular? (no -ing allowed?)
- How mean will you be to Katie Couric?
- Will you later write a book about writing Sarah Palin’s memoir?
- Will the Republicans use this book in 2012 for vetting purposes? We all know how well Google worked this year…
- Will John McCain write a foreword? Follow up question: Will it be censored?
- Will the book be allowed to appear in the Wasilla library? Or will she accidentally ban it for being defamatory.
But in all honesty, there is still considerable enthusiasm surrounding Palin within the Republican party. If her political team is smart, a questionable assumption given…everything, the book should not be her life story. Off the bat, if she’s not going to write about trying cocaine, it will not sell. Instead, the book should be a guide to rebuilding the GOP.
Similar to Don’t Think of an Elephant! Know Your Values and Frame the Debate by George Lakoff, Palin (with assistance of course) could write the bible for the 2010/2012 elections, focused on clarifying the message and values of “real America.” Doing this would allow her to build credibility among Republicans and point the flailing Grand Old Party down a clear path to victory - or at least put them on a better path than the one they are on now.
The LA Times is reporting that, “Presumably, the book would tell her side of the 2008 presidential election.” If this is true, the following media coverage will be a lot of “he said, she said” nonsense.
Mrs. Palin, no one wants to hear about how the McCain campaign “wronged” you. Without his misguided campaign your fame would predominantly remain in Alaska. Take this opportunity to take the high road.
McCain lost, we know. Enough people have speculated and written why - including those making the argument that you were too closely guarded by his campaign. So instead of giving us something we already know, give the GOP what they need - direction.

Those who disrespect Gov. Palin are only disrespecting themselves. If there were a compilation (and there may be somewhere) of all the unprecedented vitriolic slander directed at this absolutely charming intelligent and RESPECTFUL woman, it would deserve a place of honor in a Hall Of Shame.
I have come to the conclusion that certain types of people need scapegoats and sacrificial victims to satisfy some kind of atavistic sadism that compels them to attack what is beautiful and good. Any NORMAL human being, would be able to see that Sarah Palin is a Queen among women and among politicians, and agree or disagree with her policies and positions, afford the high respect that is her DUE, that she DESERVES, for her honest work on behalf of the American People and her lifelong efforts to live in a loving, intelligent and moral life..
Sarah who?
